I am a contract employee (2 years contract) of a company and my monthly pay is Rs. 35,000/- . Since I am not a regular employee, a TDS of Rs. 3500/- is deducted. And because of that, the company may issue me form 16a. So how and where should I file /upload this form 16a to get back this taxed amount? I believe as per income tax rules, I will get back Rs. ₹33,250

Form 16A is also a TDS Certificate. While Form 16 is for only salary income, Form 16A is applicable for TDS on Income Other than Salary. For example – a Form 16A shall be issued to you when a bank deducts TDS on your interest income from fixed deposits, for TDS deducted on insurance commission, for TDS deducted on your rent receipts, in fact, when TDS is deducted on any other income you receive that is liable for such deduction.
This certificate also has details of the name and address of deductor/deductee, PAN/TAN details, challan details of TDS deposited. It also has details of income you have earned and the TDS deducted and deposited on such income
Before you start filing your ITR, it is important to cross-check and verify the information available in Form 16 with your salary slips and Form 26AS. In case there is any discrepancy in the information available, then you must bring it your employer's notice immediately and ask him to give you a revised Form 16 with the correct information.
Any salaried person whose tax has been deducted by the employer at source, is eligible to get Form 16. Irrespective of the fact whether your income falls under the tax exemption limit or not, the employer must issue a Form 16 if s/he has deducted tax at source.

Employers can issue Form 16 in print or in soft copy downloaded from their account on the TRACES website. Your employer can also guide you to any outsourced online payroll platform, from where you can download your Form 16.
In case you have lost your Form 16, you can always ask for a duplicate copy from your employer.

In case the employer hasn’t deposited the tax, since the onus of paying the tax is on you, you will have to pay the tax online/offline and claim it later from your employer.
In case the employer has deposited the tax and still hasn't issued Form 16 to you, go back to the previous step. Though it is a tedious process, it will help you file your returns on time
