Hi, I am Raghu.I Want to know about Service Tax Audit in a Service Industry,i.e.What are the reports & Books Govt Auditors ask when they visit the Company.Plz give me your valuable solutions.

hi, raghu, Service tax auditors ask company Balance sheet,P&l,all ledgers (All book print out) , your Invoice copies (for checking service tax amounts)

As said above they will ask for P&L and B/s of the concern. Also they will ask for TB from which they will pick the expenses head that attract service TAx like freight,rent,expenses subject to service tax etc.,
They will try to calculate the service Tax amount you shown in your Return Vs the amount reflected in your TB of that particular head.
In case if your are service provider, they will try to match the invoices with your return figures of ST. If the audit is for the first time they will ask for all the years from the year of ST implemented or from the commencement of your business.
As i experienced in this , they will try to pick a loop hole from your concern to make a point with this regard and you must be careful in explaining the facts of the case.
Finally they will finish the audit with some DHAKSHINAS.
