You can easliy split data
But remember some points which i found necessary due to i expeirnced it myself
You must have an single entry on the date you required the new company started
if you use zero value vouchers or invoice activate its allowance due to some times the split process posponed by these reasons

Hi Mr sUBRAMANYAM
At 1st u start the tally , in tha gateway of Tall u choose the Period From 1st April 2009 to Naxt Financial Period (ofter 31st March 2010 i.e 1st April 2010, 30th April2010)
then go for company configration ther click on Split company
there u got the period
fill the period which u need to seperate
autometicaly the tally split in to two seperate periods with opening balances .
(in data folder 3 data 's are shown ,1 origional, 2nd frist period ,3 Closing period )
