TDS exists if the bookings done by any agency and the commission on tickets crosses Rs. 5,000/- in a year regards
As per my knowledge we are purchase Ticket from Railway or respective departments i.e they are service Providers and collect the service tax only. This is for Understanding purpose only (TDS Means Tax deducted at source. we are the source to railway department then we deduct the tax amount from ticket fare value and that amount is also paid to central government only for that purpose no need to deduct tds from direct transaction related between us and Department.)
On regard to your post...TDS will be applicable to all agency unless they are catagorized under Tax holiday under Income Tax Act. In your case...I guess the TDS will be applied...
There is no TDS on booking of either air or train ticket.
However, if a travel agent provides any service like arranging visa or passport then a TDS should be made at the rate of 10%. Though these services may not be categorized as professional services but most companies play safe and deducted at 10%.
